Layout and descriptions of the rooms
Villa Lionti is an 18th century "baglio", built in carved lavic stone, near Catania. It included a main house with frescoes, decorated transoms and furniture in bois de rose, an oil mill, a millstone for the wine-pressing and some buildings for the storage of agricultural production controllare nel dizionario. Between 1996 and 2001 the baglio was restored, respecting the original layout and creating an easy access also for disabled.
The buildings for the storage of agricultural produce were converted into suites for the guests, the room containing the tanks for the pressing of grapes was converted into a library, and a large swimming pool was built in an area of the garden quite distant from the bedrooms. The garden, with its native plants and bushes, was partly left as it was and partly restored following the original plan. The frescoes, transoms and furniture of the main house were restored and repositioned.
Description of suites and rooms
Suite Etna (2+2)
About 60 sq.mt.
Large living room on two levels, with double bed on the upper level and a wardrobe, a living space with a divisible double sofa bed at ground level, dining area, cooking corner with oven. Bathroom with tub.
Suite Ulisse (4+2)
About 75 sq. mt.
Composed by 2 bedrooms, one with divisible double bed and the second one with a single bed (with the possibility of a second one), a large living room with a divisible double sofa beds. Kitchen in the living room; 2 bathrooms: 1 with tub, 1 with shower.
Suite Alcove (2+1)
About 98 sq. mt.
Apartment with 2 bedrooms, one very large with alcove with divisible double bed and the second bedroom smaller, with a single bed. Large living room with 1 single sofa bed, big kitchen with oven, frigo and freezer. Separate closet with washing basin, bathroom with shower. Old frescoes on the transom, decorations on the walls.
Room Polifemo (2+1)
About 32 sq. mt.
Large room with divisible double bed, cooking corner, bathroom with shower suitable also for physically disabled people. Possibility of additional bed.
